REF IS ON THE SPOT..

FOUR penalties, four goals, one point apiece.

That was the story of the only PIL fixture to be played on Saturday as Lisburn Distillery and Armagh City shared the spoils at New Grosvenor.

A Daire Rooney header on his debut had put the Whites in front with Shea Campbell (above) levelling on the blow for half-time from the spot having earlier missed from 12 yards.

Distillery were awarded a spotkick of their own early in the second half when Rooney was felled and James Wright made no mistake to make it 2-1.

But after his team-mate Sean Mallon was dismissed, Campbell scored a second penalty late in the game to leave the sides locked together.

Despite a mix-up in the fixture listings in some quarters, Distillery do now play Annagh United this evening in their second of three PIL games in a week.

After that they go to Tobermore United on Saturday while the Annagh are at Moyola Park.

Also at the weekend, Queen’s travel to Banbridge Town, Armagh host Dollingstown, Newington are at Portstewart and Sport and Leisure Swifts welcome Lurgan Celtic to West Belfast.
