Arise Sir Tom! Knighthood for legend of lockdown
HERO fundraiser Captain Tom Moore will be knighted by the Queen tomorrow.
The 100-year-old Second World War veteran raised £32million for charity by completing laps his garden with a walking frame.
Sir Tom, who originally hoped for donations of just £1,000, will be accompanied by his family.
He said yesterday: “I could never have imagined this would happen. It is such a huge honour and I am very much looking forward to meeting the Queen.”
Royal investitures have been put on hold, but Her Maj, 94, agreed to make an exception for tomorrow’s event at Windswaasor Castle. Sir Tom said: “It is going to be the most special of days.”
