Wills calls for disease fight to aid wildlife
THE Duke of Cambridge has said work to prevent more pandemics must go hand in hand with efforts to end the illegal wildlife trade.
Prince William told a virtual meeting of the United for Wildlife Taskforces: “Right now, there is a real chance to ensure that the urgent steps that the world must take to prevent future zoonotic disease pandemics are designed in a way that also helps to eradicate the illegal wildlife trade.”
Zoonotic diseases such as Covid-19 jump from animals to humans.
The WHO says it is planning to investigate the origin of Covid-19, thought to have begun in bats and infected another mammal before jumping to humans.
