DEALER DRIVES OUT CAR CROOK

-

Car dealer turned scam-buster Stephen Bogan has become an online hero after a fraudster “bought” a £40,000 Porsche, saying he would pay via his company BBL.

The money appeared in the bank account of Stephen’s business, James Glen Car Sales of Airdrie, North Lanarkshire, but he said something “smelled a bit off”.

After checking with his bank, he discovered that the cash with the reference BBL had come from the Government’s Bounce Back Loan Scheme that is supposed to help firms through the pandemic.

The crook had sneakily applied for a loan in the name of the car dealership, and made it look like his payment for the Porsche.

Stephen’s Facebook footage describing the attempted scam has been watched more than three million times, and as he said in a second post, that is hopefully “enough people to make it pretty difficult for these scumbags to catch anyone else with their rotten scheme”.

Fantastic work.
