Candy out on a Lim

- BY DAVID YATES

PUNTERS yesterday abandoned 32Red Sprint Cup favourite Limato after trainer Henry Candy warned his four-year-old may not make the Haydock sprint on September 3.

Ladbrokes pushed the July Cup hero, second to Mecca’s Angel in the Nunthorpe Stakes, out to 4-1 (from 11-4) after Candy nominated the Prix de la Forêt at Chantilly on October 2 as Limato’s next target.

“He needs time between his races, so he’s odds against for Haydock,” Candy said yesterday.

“I was delighted with him at York – five furlongs is a specialist distance.”

La Cressonniere was cut to 8-1 for the Arc de Triomphe after winning at Deauville yesterday.
