It’s a big trip for a wee sip

Daily Mirror - - POLLYHUDSON -

AN amateur pilot made a 1,000-mile round trek for a bottle of his favourite whisky.

Charles Patter, 67, flew his four-seater from Grimsby, Lincs, to John O’Groats to spend £33 on an Old Pulteney 12 Year Old single malt from the distillery in Wick.

The 67-year-old, from Newark, Notts, was treated to a tour of the plant when staff learned of his mission.

And Charles said: “I like a dram of good whisky before dinner – and Old Pulteney is my favourite.”
