Lukaku is stoked up to strike

- BY DAVID MADDOCK

RONALD KOEMAN insists Romelu Lukaku will stop firing blanks now he has committed his future to Everton.

The Belgium striker has failed to score or even offer an assist in his last 10 Blues games, leading fans to fear he was disillusioned with life at Goodison.

Most felt Lukaku would force a move in the summer, but his Dutch boss is convinced the man who scored 25 goals for Everton last season is primed to return to form once he is fully fit after a long summer at the Euros.

And Stoke could feel the force at Everton tomorrow.

Koeman said: “It’s always part of the job, if strikers are not scoring then the manager gets questions about them.

“I don’t look backwards about Lukaku and what he did last season because that’s not my problem.

“My problem is now and he didn’t score against West Brom where he had one big chance. Of course, he had some good chances against Yeovil this week but I’m not worried about that.

“There is no reason to worry, you see he’s still not 100 per cent at his physical level, but now if he gets two chances he will score a goal.

“He had his first 90 minutes on Tuesday, and everybody needs game time.”
