Coke’s ‘plot on sugar tax’

-

COCA-Cola is plotting a legal challenge to derail the sugar tax, leaked emails appear to show.

C4’s Dispatches tonight reveals an executive saying work “is under way to build a case against the tax”.

The show says the firm held private meetings with top civil servant Sir Jeremy Heywood and Treasury Secretary David Gauke as it tries to get the levy axed.

Coca-Cola denies plans for a legal fight. The tax is expected to add 24p to a litre from 2018.
