Richard Osman on how cheques are becoming a novelty... @richardosman- I have to pay a cheque into my bank. I feel like a Victorian gentleman.

# Management consultants have been handed £18million to make £22billion of planned cuts to the NHS (Mirror, March 21). Why not get rid of all the consultants and pen-pushers and we’ll save millions? Dorothy Baston, Stockport, Gtr Manchester # I was sorry to read of the passing of American game show creator Chuck Barris, aged 87. He also wrote that great 1962 pop hit Palisades Park sung by Freddy Cannon. Thank you, Chuck! You always made me laugh. Philip Brannon, South East London # Following the letter from S Wadeson about using desalinated sea water to help drought-stricken areas in Africa (Madeuthink, March 22), would it not be possible to dig canal-type waterways from the sea inland, with desalination plants along the way? This would also help reduce the risk of rising sea levels. J R Dew, Wolverhampton
