MURRAY REACHES NEW HEIGHTS AS HE FIGHTS FOR FRENCH OPEN GLORY
Twickenham triumph will crown rags-to-riches story for the Chiefs
ANDY MURRAY warmed up for the French Open by taking down world judo champion Teddy Riner above the Paris skyline.
The pair trained together at the top of the newly-opened roof of La Grande Arche de La Defense, with Murray winning by a knockout against his fellow Olympic gold medallist in an Under Armour photo shoot.
Murray, the No.1 seed at Stade Roland Garros, said: “It was great to set my sights on the tournament from up here.” CHRISTIAN WADE goes into Saturday’s Premiership Final with 80 minutes to break the league’s single-season try record. But the Wasps flyer (left), whose 17 in the regular season tied Dominic Chapman’s 20-year-old mark, still cannot buy an England cap. “Things have been good,” said Wade. “We’ve set a few records and matched others. The only downfall I guess is a few people not being selected for tours they thought they might.
“I haven’t been picked for a while so I wasn’t counting on it, regardless of performances. But I’m confused because I don’t really get clear explanations.
“It’s frustrating, but when it happens year on year it becomes the norm. So for me, my outlook on rugby is the same as it’s always been – to improve as an athlete and improve every training session and every year.”
