Corbyn demands rethink on terror
JEREMY Corbyn has said it is time to admit the War on Terror is not working and the West must find a “smarter” strategy.
In his first major speech since the Manchester atrocity, the Labour leader set out plans to increase security, adding: “We need a smarter way to reduce the threat from countries that nurture terrorists.”
He said too little was being done to combat terror attacks – but the terrorists were “reviled” and would be made to pay. Mr Corbyn also pledged to reverse Tory cuts to the police after it emerged there are 20,000 fewer officers than in 2010.
He added: “No government can prevent every terrorist attack. But the responsibility of government is to minimise that chance.”
