Nurse struck off over teen patient sex
WORK Northern General A HOSPITAL nurse was struck off for having sex with a vulnerable homeless teen under his care.
Rodney Lowther-Harris slept with a patient of 19 with a history of mental health and drug issues, self-harm and suicide bids.
When confronted, he admitted he knew she was vulnerable but added: “She told me she wanted a relationship. I took the risk for love and it’s backfired.”
Lowther-Harris was dismissed from Northern General Hospital in Sheffield in September 2014.
He admitted inappropriate conduct and was struck off after a Nursing and Midwifery Council hearing. The panel judgement said his “behaviour has undermined the trust and confidence the public has in the profession”.
