£30M ON OFFER FOR ALEXIS AND OZIL

- BY JOHN CROSS

ARSENAL will make one last push today to keep contract rebels Alexis Sanchez (right) and Mesut Ozil – by offering them a combined £30million per season in salary.

Arsene Wenger hopes the feelgood factor of the FA Cup victory and also a

genuine statement of intent in the transfer market will help persuade the star duo to stay. The Gunners are set to offer Sanchez a new contract, with a two-year extension in excess of £275,000 a week, to keep him at the club until 2020. They have already offered Ozil £280,000 a week to stay, even though the German midfielder’s representatives have been pushing for around £350,000 a week. The two contract situations will be discussed at Arsenal’s board meeting today when they will also resolve Wenger’s future with a two-year contract on the table. They may also decide the cut-off point for Ozil and Sanchez to make their minds up, and whether to let them go into the final year of their contracts or sell the pair this summer. Sanchez likes London and Arsenal hope that plus a mega offer will help persuade him to remain. Bayern Munich have sounded out Sanchez’s representatives while Manchester City are also confident of landing the Chile forward. The club expect an announcement tomorrow on Wenger’s future but are ready to back him heavily in the transfer window and on contracts. AC Milan striker Carlos Bacca is on Arsenal’s radar and they could also be interested in Leicester’s Riyad Mahrez at the right price, as well as Monaco’s Thomas Lemar.
