Bale fears Real final torment

- BY JAMES NURSEY

GARETH BALE hopes to win his third Champions League on home soil – but admits he is not fit enough to last 90 minutes.

The Real Madrid forward will be in Wales on Saturday night with Juventus waiting in the final of Europe’s top club competition.

Bale, 27, has not played since a calf injury against Barcelona on April 23, at a time when he was trying to build himself up following ankle surgery in November that kept him out for three months.

And the Wales captain knows he faces heartbreak now because he tried to return too quickly.

Bale said: “I’m not 100 per cent. I haven’t played in six or seven weeks. In hindsight, I should have stayed out a bit longer and let it heal and strengthen.”

Real boss Zinedine Zidane, who will choose between Bale and in-form Isco to start, said: “This is most difficult for me.

“I know Gareth is hugely excited about the game.“
