Abedi ‘not on extreme list’

BOMBER Salman Abedi was known to the police for a string of minor crimes.

But Manchester’s chief constable Ian Hopkins said detectives were not aware of his extremist views.

Abedi had appeared on their radar when he was 17 for theft, receiving stolen goods and assault in 2012.

The Mirror understands he was also fined £150 for driving offences aged 16.

Mr Hopkins said he “was not known” to the Prevent Counter-Terrorism Strategy.
