WOMAN KEPT HER MUM IN FREEZER FOR 10 YRS
£1,700 pension collected each month
A WOMAN hid her mother’s body in a freezer for a decade to keep claiming her pension, prosecutors said.
Detectives discovered the corpse of the 80-year-old wrapped in tarpaulin and concealed under clothes in the suspect’s garden in Horsarrieu, close to Pau, in South West France.
A prosecutor source said yesterday: “There had been no report of the mother’s death. The freezer was not connected to the electricity supply going into the house. It was just a hiding place.”
No medical fees had been claimed for the mother since 2007, but her benefits, including her £1,700-a-month pension, continued to be collected. Police sources said the daughter, 55, had put her own photo on her mother’s driving licence.
An autopsy is under way.
