Crook loses card gamble

A THIEF who won just £98 after stealing scratch cards worth £2,754 must pay £1,063 in fines and costs.

Adam Potts, 25, took a whole display stand of cards from a Tesco in Stoke, Staffs, and spent hours scratching them. He was arrested after being identified from CCTV.

The gambling addict, from nearby Harriseahead, admitted theft and fraud.

He was fined £300, ordered to pay £598 compensation, £135 costs and a £30 surcharge.
