William & Kate to visit Poland & Germany

-

THE Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are due to make an official visit to Poland and Germany next month.

William and Kate will begin the five-day trip on July 17 in Poland’s capital Warsaw and end the visit in Hamburg, Germany.

They will also travel to Gdansk in Poland, as well as Heidelberg in Germany and its capital, Berlin. They are making the trip at the request of the Foreign and Commonwealth Office. It is likely to be seen as a diplomacy tour, an attempt to strengthen UK relations with Europe before Brexit.

Kensington Palace declined to comment when asked if Prince George and Princess Charlotte would also go on the trip.

William, 34, travelled to Germany last summer, visiting Dusseldorf for a series of events honouring the role of British armed forces based in the country. In a speech, he insisted the “depth” of Britain’s friendship with Germany would not change post-Brexit.

Kate, 35, has yet to make an official trip to the country. During a state visit to Germany in 2015, the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh visited the Bergen-Belsen concentration camp to mark the 70th anniversary of its liberation by British forces.
