Tiger that killed Rosa called Cicip

THE tiger that mauled a zoo keeper to death is called Cicip, the park’s boss has revealed.

Andrew Swales described 33-year-old Rosa King’s death as a “freak accident” but insisted the rare Malayan male will not be put down.

He said: “This has been supported by Rosa’s parents.” Rosa died after she was attacked by Cicip on May 29 at Hamerton Zoo Park in Cambridgeshire. The attraction has been closed since then but is due to reopen today. Mr Swales added: “The decision has been taken in consultation with the police, staff and Rosa’s family and while this remains a difficult time, there has been tremendous support for this.” He said the probe into how Cicip came into contact with Rosa would “take time to complete”.
