UNDERHILL’S GETTING UNDER WAY

- FROM ADAM HATHAWAY in Santa Fe

SAM UNDERHILL will make his England debut against Argentina here tomorrow.

Underhill, a star pupil of World Cup-winning flanker Richard Hill, has been playing for the Ospreys in Wales for the last two seasons.

England team manager Hill has been keeping tabs on him and acting as his mentor.

The 20-year-old played 36 minutes for his country in a non-cap game against the Barbarians last month – but missed last weekend’s 38-34 win over the Pumas with a shoulder injury.

Underhill (right) replaces Tom Curry, and head coach Eddie Jones said: “Sam is a good player, a good defensive player and reads the game well. “Attack-wise, the Ospreys use him as a ball runner but I have seen him play a more natural No.7 role which we want to see him in – where he is not only a good cleaner-out but also a good linkage player.”
