TAX RETURN
Euro giants lie in wait as pain in Spain puts Cristiano on the plane
CRISTIANO RONALDO has put the top clubs in Europe on standby amid claims he is ready to quit Real Madrid.
He is embroiled in a £13million tax evasion inquiry and sources close to the Portugal striker confirm he is ready to end an eight-year spell in Spain.
Manchester United, Paris SaintGermain and Bayern Munich will be ready
to move if the 32-year-old carries out his threat to leave. The Chinese Super League and Major League Soccer are also possibilities.
Although United are one of a select group of clubs able to afford Ronaldo, they would need convincing it is worth re-signing a player they sold for £80m in 2009.
Madrid’s regional state prosecutor accused him of failing to pay the correct amount of tax on income from image rights between 2011 and 2014.
Judges will decide over the next fortnight if the case should go to court.
