Russia threat to UK planes

RUSSIA could shoot down UK or US warplanes in Syria, Moscow has warned.

After a Syrian military jet was downed on Sunday, Russia’s defence ministry said US-led coalition planes would be “tracked and treated as targets”.

The coalition said the Syrian Su-22 had bombed US-backed fighters trying to oust Islamic State from its stronghold of Raqqa.

Theresa May yesterday insisted a deal over Syrian airspace was in place to avoid conflict with Russia.
