Bad knight for Murray

I feel for Andy Murray after he crashed out of Queen’s in the first round.

He is a most caring, sensitive and emotional guy at the top of his craft and yet susceptible, like any of us, to natural pressures.

For me, the main cause of his recent falling short of his top standards is that poisoned chalice – his knighthood!

Why couldn’t the powers that be have waited to confer this upon him once he’d announced his retirement?

I now fear for his chances of lifting the Wimbledon crown again for it seems from now on the only way is down.

I just hope I’m wrong.
