AN alleged terrorist murderer drove his hired van into worshippers outside a mosque in a “deliberate and premeditated” attack, it is claimed.

Darren Osborne was said to have been motivated by a hatred of Muslims and “extreme political views”.

Tattooed Osborne, 47, appeared at Westminster magistrates court with a black eye and wearing a white T-shirt and grey tracksuit bottoms.

He allegedly ploughed into the group as they headed home from prayers early on Monday, killing one and injuring 10 others.

The father-of-four is said to have mounted the pavement outside the Muslim Welfare House, by Finsbury Park Mosque, North London, at around 12.20am. In doing so he murdered Makram Ali, 51, and tried to kill others, it was alleged. Osborne was arrested at the scene and was yesterday charged with terrorist-related murder and attempted murder. He appeared in court flanked by three detectives. Osborne spoke to confirm his name and shook his head when asked for his address. Samuel Main, prosecuting, said: “The Crown’s case is that Mr Osborne was motivated by extreme political views and a personal hatred of Muslims.” Osborne, listed as from Cardiff, was remanded to appear at the Old Bailey on Tuesday. Dad-of-four Mr Ali, of Haringey, North London, had lived in the UK since arriving from Bangladesh at age 10.
