EVEN by his own spectacular standards this was a special season for Luis Suarez.
He began the campaign under suspension for biting Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic. He was also involved in a messy transfer wrangle, with Arsenal claiming they could trigger a deal by offering £1 over his £40million release clause.
But Liverpool called his bluff and insisted he must stay. Suarez (above) ended up as the double footballer of the year, with 31 goals in 33 games.
A few weeks later he joined Barcelona in a £65m deal.
FOR the first time in Prem history two teams scored more than 100 goals, Manchester City and Liverpool. The ton-up feat had only been achieved once before – by Chelsea in 2009–10.
