Spieth fever pitch ‘folly’
JORDAN SPIETH said he failed in a mission to play “boring golf” after holing a bunker shot to take a suddendeath play-off.
The world No.3’s win at the Travelers Championship means he becomes only the second man after Tiger Woods to claim 10 PGA Tour events before turning 24.
He had not planned the rollercoaster final round. He birdied the first two holes – then missed four putts inside 10 feet.
Spieth then holed out from the sand from 60ft to spark a frenzied celebration.
He said: “I really wish I didn’t make it exciting. The goal was boring golf.”
