Writer: Mirror knife crusade inspired me
THE Daily Mirror has won praise from a best-selling author after our acclaimed campaign on knife crime inspired his new novel.
Writer and director Charles Harris consulted Mirror journalists about our 2010 Drop The Knife drive to learn the inside story on successful newspaper campaigning.
His satirical novel The Breaking of Liam Glass tells the story of a reporter investigating the knifing of a teenage football fan on an estate in London.
The journalist goes on to launch his own crusade against blade crime.
Charles, who is also a film consultant, said: “The novel would not have been possible without the generous help and advice of Mirror staff and the Drop The Knife campaign.”
