ARGOS MAKES A SPLASH
The hot weather has seen parents rushing to snap up paddling pools, Argos said. The company yesterday reported soaring same-day demand for pools, along with fans.
The hurry to cope with the heatwave pushed sales up 10% at Argos and helped to boost figures at owner Sainsbury’s.
The supermarket giant spent £1.4billion on Argos owner Home Retail Group last year and is already reaping the rewards.
Chief executive Mike Coupe said its 250 new summer lines helped it to its “best performance for a number of years”.
