KLOPP CALLS FOR PATIENCE

- DAVID ANDERSON

JURGEN KLOPP has urged Liverpool supporters to stay patient as he tries to land his top transfer targets.

Klopp has been frustrated in his attempts to add a centre-half, midfielder, and left-back to record £37million signing Mohamed Salah and Bosman capture Dominic Solanke. Red Bull Leipzig are resisting Liverpool’s attempts to land highly-rated midfielder Naby Keita, while the Reds have been forced to put their interest in Southampton centre-half Virgil van Dijk on the back-burner after their ill-judged attempts to lure him earlier this summer.

Klopp, who received a birthday surprise at Liverpool yesterday after turning 50 last month, tried to assure fans the club are working hard to land the men he wants. “The transfer market opened a few days ago,” said the Kop boss. “But it will be a difficult one and is getting more and more difficult, especially in England.

“But we have done a lot of good things so far. We have done a lot of things behind the scenes.

“Sometimes you need to be patient. Sometimes you have to wait for the right moment. Then we will see what happens.”
