Cyber pain for Reckitt
The maker of painkiller Nurofen has revealed an estimated £100million hit from a global cyber attack last month. Reckitt Benckiser, which also manufactures Durex condoms and Cillit Bang, said the Petya assault had slashed 2% off sales in the past three months and 1% off its annual haul. That’s sizeable given the UK-based multinational raked in £9.9billion last year. Reckitt is the first big firm to put a bill on last month’s attack, and saw its share price tumble yesterday. It admitted some of its factories around the world were still not properly back up and running, and added: “We also expect to lose some further revenue permanently.”
