CRISP-EATING TWITTS GET ‘TUBBS’ THUMPING

MARCUS WILLIS dismissed Twitter trolls as sad losers after his mum came to his defence on social media.

Last year’s Wimbledon hero and Jay Clarke shocked defending champions Nicolas Mahut and PierreHugues Herbert to reach the third round of the doubles.

But world No.380 Willis was still abused on Twitter, with one user called Roger claiming, “All jokes aside, the tubbster is a disgrace to the sport!” When Cathy Willis defended her son, she was also attacked and told to, “Do some research please”. She replied: “He plays very few tournaments as it’s very expensive to tour. I don’t need to research buddy, I’m his mother.” Marcus Willis (left) said: “They’ve got a lot of spare time to abuse people on Twitter who are in the spotlight. I’m sure they’d rather be in the spotlight than sat at home eating Wotsits.” Willis and Clarke face No.16 seeds Oliver Marach and Mate Pavic on Court 14 today.
