LUKAKU: I WILL MAKE UNITED GREAT AGAIN
ROMELU LUKAKU revealed that the desire to make “the biggest club in the world” great again made him choose Manchester United over Chelsea. He will train with his new United team-mates in LA today on their pre-season tour of the US, after snubbing a return to his old club.
The Belgium striker completed his £75million move from Everton to United, despite Chelsea matching the fee in a desperate last-ditch bid
to land him. But Lukaku, 24, said linking up with his old Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho (right) at the 20-times champions – who have not won the title since 2013 – was too good to resist.
He said: “It’s the biggest club in the world and it’s hungry to win the league again, to be dominant in the world again. It’s the sort of opportunity I’ve wanted since I was a child. “Who would say no to the biggest club in the world? The best stadium in England, the best fans. “I always said I wanted to play for a team that’s challenging for every trophy, and United wants to be that dominant team. If you look at the history, it says enough.”
