Unpaid care & no breaks

ONE in four unpaid carers has not had a day off in five years, says a report today.

Six million Brits look after others for nothing and 40% have not had a break in more than a year.

Helena Herklots, of charity Carers UK, which did study, said: “Without access to breaks, carers can quickly reach breaking point, unable to look after their own health.”

She said there is an urgent need for a Government plan and more funding for carers’ breaks.
