Killer confesses to TV Piers

Woman whose evidence put hubby in jail admits ‘murder was my idea’

- BY MARK JEFFERIES Showbiz Editor

A WOMAN whose plea bargain evidence convicted her husband of murder has sensationally revealed to Piers Morgan it was her idea.

Ashley Humphrey, 34, made the confession while she was interviewed for TV show Killer Women.

She shot dead the victim but testified it was her domineering and abusive husband Timothy’s plot.

The murdered woman, Sandra Rozzo, 37, was Timothy’s ex-girlfriend and was due to give evidence against him on battery and sex assault charges.

Ashley tells the ITV programme: “I suggested, ‘what if she were not to show up in court?’. That is where it started and it snowballed. I was the first to say it. I don’t know why I let him into my head the way I did.”

Ashley shot Sandra eight times in 2003 in Florida. In the plea bargain, Ashley admitted second degree murder in exchange for testifying against Timothy, now 50. He was convicted of first degree murder and is serving life without parole. Ashley got 25 years.

After the interview in a Florida jail, Piers said: “I wasn’t aware of how big a bombshell this was until the detective who investigated the case gasped when I told him what Ashley confessed and said if she’d said that at the time she might have got the death penalty.

“Until that point, I was quite sympathetic to her claim she acted entirely under the influence of her husband.”

Killer Women, ITV tomorrow 9pm.
