HEATHER PUTS WIND UP RIVALS

-

HEATHER WATSON and Jamie Murray remain on collision course to meet in the Wimbledon mixed doubles final.

Defending champions Watson and Finn Henri Kontinen last night beat Rohan Bopanna and Gabriela Dabrowski in three tight sets to reach the semi-finals.

And, on the other side of the draw, Murray and Martina Hingis (right) knocked out British wildcards Ken Skupski and Jocelyn Rae 6-4 6-4.

“Defending the title would be awesome,” said Watson. “But we are just looking forward to the semi-final.”

The Guernsey star (above) laughed: “I think it helps to stay relaxed on court and at the changeovers. Someone farted on court today, so we talked about that. I said to Henri at one changeover, ‘Someone farted’. And he said, ‘I know’.”

Hingis, who won the 1997 Wimbledon singles title, said: “I feel like an honorary Brit. It definitely helps.” Jamie Murray, who won this title in 2007 with Jelena Jankovic, said: “It’s cool that there are still British players to play later in the second week of grand slams. “It’s nice to still be in, still winning and playing at the end of Wimbledon fortnight. And our goal is to win.”
