SPEEDY ZAC SEEMS A SHAW THING

-

GRIMSBY’S Zac Shaw underlined his medal prospects by cruising into today’s semi-final of the T12 100m.

Shaw, who is visually impaired, was slowly out of the blocks but burned off his opposition to clock a time 11.40sec.

Only the heat winners were guaranteed to go through and Shaw (left) got the job done. He said: “It wasn’t a great run but to qualify as a winner.. you cannot really get better than that.”

Cuba’s Savon Pimoda was fastest in 10.89sec.

Cameron Crombie of Australia won the first gold medal of the games.

The 31-year-old, who suffers from cerebral palsy, also smashed the world record with 15.95m in the F38 shot put.
