Diamond White up for a double
GREAT BRITAIN’S Richard Whitehead and Hannah Cockroft are both aiming for a double dose of gold at the World Para Athletics Championships today.
Whitehead (above) is first out of the blocks in his heat of the men’s T42 100m at lunchtime when he will be bidding for a spot in tonight’s final at 8pm.
The 40-year-old brought the house down when he won the 200m on Saturday and David Henson – third behind Whitehead – also has a crack at the shorter sprint.
Wheelchair racer Cockcroft, winner of the women’s T34 100m on Friday night, is going for the second leg of a golden hat-trick in the 800m final at 7.50pm.
The 24-year-old from Halifax – also entered in the 400m – is joined in the 800m by team-mates Carly Tait and Kare Adenegan, who was second in the 100m.
