Poisoning fears as five cats die within days in one street

- BY CHRIS SLATER

FIVE cats in one street have suffered agonising deaths from poisoning within a few days.

Tabbies Tilly and Peppa had seizures at the start of the month with the RSPCA telling owner Natalie Bond, 29, that poisoning was “very likely” the cause.

A cat belonging to neighbour Claire Gibbons, 39, died the same day in Aspull, Wigan. Days later a cat on the same street died after seizures. Owner Joanne Seddon said it was “awful to watch”. The RSPCA said it was not clear if the poisoning was deliberate or accidental. Natalie said: “There are so many things that are toxic to cats. You just don’t want to believe someone could do it deliberately.” The RSPCA has urged locals to ensure pesticides not near places where cats roam and chemicals are not leaking from car radiators.
