Going nuts for mutts

-

ITV, 8pm

BARKING mad is the expression that springs to mind when watching this series about extreme pet pampering.

It’s a booming £6billion-a-year business, with demand growing by the day, but it’s still a shock to hear that the super-rich splash out on things like fur-jazzles and pawdicures (yes, these are, er, fur real).

From diamond-encrusted collars and high-end canine couture, to Chihuahuas getting hitched or Poodles driving Mini Coopers – these people are taking their love of pets to the limit. One woman even sent her mutt, in a chauffeur-driven car of course, to a posh country estate for a detox.

Tonight, the madness continues with a visit to Chelsea socialite Nina Naustdal. She has been in the media before for her posh parenting. Her kids have a chef, a driver, a PA to organise their playdates and even a Lego therapist (don’t ask). And it seems her dogs receive the same kind of treatment. Fashion designer Nina designs couture fashion for jet-set clients, but her love of her seven Chihuahuas inspired her to design a matching range for dogs. You will watch bewildered as it’s all debuted at a catwalk (dogwalk?) show in London’s West End.

Elsewhere in this episode, marvel at bunny spoilers Emma and Wayne, who dote on their 23 rabbits as if they were their children.

Emma has designed a gigantic rabbit wonderland with 120 metres of tunnels, a tree house, a maze and a bunny bar for refreshment on hot days. We warned you it was hopping mad...
