JOSE MUST FIND £50M FOR MATIC

- BY JOHN CROSS

JOSE MOURINHO has made a £35million bid for Nemanja Matic – but been told the midfielder will cost £50m.

Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich is ready to sanction the deal as an act of goodwill towards the player, but will add on a “Lukaku tax”.

The Blues are still smarting at missing out on signing striker Romelu Lukaku from Everton after United snatched him earlier in the summer.

And although Juventus are also keen on Matic (above), and Chelsea would be willing to sell him to them for less, the player is believed to have expressed a desire to go to Old Trafford.

Chelsea do not usually sell to a direct rival but, as when Petr Cech joined Arsenal, will grant Matic, 28, his wish as a thank you for his service.
