Corbyn debt scrap denial

-

JEREMY Corbyn has denied vowing to write off student debt during the election campaign.

The Labour leader said at the time he would “deal with” the burden on those with loans to cover tuition fees of £9,000.

But yesterday he said it was not a “commitment” to scrap student debt, and admitted the party had not known the £100billion cost of such a move at the time.

Universities Minister Jo Johnson accused Mr Corbyn of “shamelessly abandoning” a pledge.
