Emma anguish at Irish torturer in family’s past

-

Emma Willis was distraught at one story she discovers on Who Do You Think You Are? And we’re not surprised.

It turns out that her great (five times) grandfather Richard Fowler was a Protestant landowner in 18th century Ireland, accused of torturing a Catholic father and son.

The Big Brother host – who had no idea she had Irish ancestry on her father’s side – was mortified.

She said: “I felt I should apologise to people that lived in that area. It had a strange effect on me. It was horrible and I was upset.” She adds: “I feel awful talking about somebody I don’t know and saying he didn’t seem a nice man. We don’t know what life was like then.”

Find out more in her episode on BBC One a week tomorrow. Missing Love Island? Fear not, because Made in Chelsea: Ibiza starts on Monday for some feel-good vibes at exclusive beach venues.

Here are Olivia Bentley, Alex Mytton, Jamie Laing and Frankie Gaff getting into the holiday spirit for a summer of sun, sea and scandal in the six-part E4 series.

We’re told: “Friendships will be tested, unexpected romances may blossom and couples could crumble in the sizzling heat.”

Let the chaos commence...
