It will be Super Down Under, vows Lee

- BY GARETH WALKER

HULL FC coach Lee Radford has hailed the club’s move to stage a Super League match against Wigan in Australia in February.

The two clubs will meet in Illawarra with league points at stake on Saturday, February 10.

Hull are due to face St George Illawarra the following weekend while Wigan tackle South Sydney. Radford (right), boosted by star half-back Albert Kelly being passed fit for Saturday’s sell-out Challenge Cup semi-final with Leeds, said: “It’s a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

“It’s a real statement of intent – to play the first Super League game outside of Europe is huge.

“To go there and play Wigan, with all the history behind both clubs, I’m really looking forward to it. It will be a great learning curve for the players and we’ll get a chance to see how things are done in a different environment.

“I’m sure the club in general will benefit massively from it.”

Around 40 players and staff made redundant when Bradford Bulls collapsed will have their case for compensation heard in Leeds at a full employment tribunal in January.
