M-way snack stoppers pay 150% more
BRITS on holiday in the UK this summer could pay 150% more for snacks and drinks at service stations than in supermarkets.
One of the biggest markups is on bottles of water which are £1.73 in roadside stops compared with 48p on the high street.
A survey by Insurer Admiral compared the price of seven items including a ham sandwich and a bar of chocolate.
They cost more than £15 at a service station but £6.11 at a supermarket.
And the price also varies across the country, from £12.58 in the North West to £15.78 in the South West.
Admiral’s Alastair Hargreaves said: “A few harmless items could add greatly to the cost of a daytrip or holiday.”
