Father’s fight to keep coma son Alfie alive

- BY TOM BELGER

A DAD whose 14-monthold son has been in a coma since December is hoping to find treatment abroad amid a battle with doctors to keep him alive.

Alfie Evans has had no diagnosis, but he suffers constant chronic seizures and is in Alder Hey Children’s Hospital, Liverpool.

Dad Tom Evans, 20, said doctors wanted to turn off life-support, but a dozen US hospitals had said they may be able to help.

Tom, of Bootle, Merseyside, said: “I’ve had a particularly positive response from one in Miami.” Many people who supported Charlie Gard are rallying round Alfie, and more than £6,000 has been raised for treatment.

Tom said: “When I heard about Charlie I just held Alfie as tight as I could.”
