LIAM Gallagher fans yelled “F*** you Liam – we want Noel” after the rocker walked off stage with a sore throat halfway through a song.

The crowd had no idea why he quit after just three numbers and began chanting about his brother and former Oasis bandmate – who he has been feuding with for years.

One fan at the Chicago gig said of Liam: “He sounded like he had swallowed some razor blades.

“During the third tune he just walked off. He didn’t even have the courtesy to explain himself. I feel a lot of the audience would have had sympathy if he had spoken.”

The band kept on going until they realised that Liam was not coming back. They then left the stage and the crew started removing the gear as the crowd shouted “You’re a potato!” after Liam said the same about his brother recently, and “Noel is better!”. Liam, 44, later blamed his problems on a performance the previous evening. He wrote on Twitter: “Sorry to the people who turned up in Chicago. Had a difficult gig last night which f ***** my voice. I’m gutted LG x.”

Jim Kopeny, who blogs at Chicagoist, said Liam had seemed preoccupied with his sound technicians during his 20-minute set. He added: “I think it was a tantrum over sound issues but I guess we’ll have to take the man at his word.”

Things soon got even worse for fans at the annual open-air Lollapalooza festival. With thunderstorms looming, punters were evacuated, headline acts Lorde and Muse were cut short in mid-set and the festival was closed for the rest of the day
