‘STAY’ PLEA TO SAMPSON

ENGLAND goal ace Jodie Taylor called for Mark Sampson to carry on as boss of England women.

Sampson, 34, has refused to commit to seeing out the remaining two years of his contract.

He said he needed time to reflect after England lost 3-0 to Holland in the semi-finals of the European Championship on Thursday.

“I haven’t considered the next step,” he said. “These tournaments are emotional rollercoasters, they really take a toll – not just on me but on my family as well.”

Taylor (right), in line for the Golden Boot after her exploits in Holland, said: “Mark is absolutely the right guy to carry on.

“I really hope he does not get poached. He has been fantastic for this group, you have seen how far we have come under him.”

Lucy Bronze said: “Mark will look at it, and I’m sure he’ll come back more motivated than ever.”
