Backlash at C4 over film misery for the princes

FILM-MAKERS faced a backlash over a controversial documentary on Princess Diana amid claims it would cause Princes William and Harry heartache.

Sources close to the royals made the warning over the intimate footage, screened for the first time last night.

The Channel 4 show Diana: In Her Own Words featured the Princess

discussing her failed marriage to Charles, his affair with Camilla Parker Bowles and her secret love for her bodyguard Barry Mannakee.

The footage, taken by Peter Settelen during voice-coaching in the 1990s, were sold for an undisclosed sum.

But reports emerged of more footage taken by a BBC cameraman, where Diana is said to have revealed she once caught Charles on the toilet talking dirty with Camilla.

It is claimed the cameraman was secretly summoned by the Princess in 1997 and she talked candidly in seven recording sessions. The 12 hours of footage have never been found.
