Waterman has Italy all at sea
DANIELLE WATERMAN grabbed a hat-trick as England overpowered Italy 56-13.
Emily Scarratt and Lydia Thompson both crossed twice, the World Cup holders scoring 10 tries for the second game in a row.
Coach Simon Middleton made 10 changes to the team which started in Wednesday’s 56-5 demolition of Spain, and the defending champions showed their strength in depth.
Captain Scarratt said: “It was a pretty good day. There’s plenty to improve on now for a big game against the USA.”
Alex Matthews, Amy Cokayne and Tamara Taylor were England’s other try scorers.
Maria Magatti grabbed a try for Italy, who trailed 22-8 at half-time, but when Elisa Giordano crossed for their second it was no more than a consolation.
