Kiss better is good science
KISSING it better really works because of a protein in saliva, a study found.
Scientists looking at why mouth injuries heal faster discovered histatin-1 helped in the forming of blood vessels, a key part in recovery from wounds.
Prof Vicente Torres of Chile University, Santiago, said it “could help the design of better approaches” to healing.
And researchers have already begun producing materials and implants to improve wound recovery.
